Our Journey Begins: How Jana Vidya Foundation Started in Prayagraj
In 2023, a group of passionate individuals in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, came together with a shared belief: education is the most powerful tool for creating lasting change. That conviction led to the founding of Jana Vidya Foundation, a registered education NGO dedicated to providing free education for underprivileged children in India.
The Spark
It started with a simple observation — thousands of children in Prayagraj and surrounding villages lacked access to quality education. Not because they didn't want to learn, but because the opportunities simply weren't there. Government schools were overcrowded, private tuition was unaffordable, and books were a luxury most families could not justify. We asked ourselves: what if we could change that?
What We've Built
In just a short time since our founding in 2023, Jana Vidya Foundation has achieved measurable impact:
- Reached over 500 students through our free learning centers in Prayagraj
- Set up 5 free libraries in villages and a prison, distributing over 2,000 books
- Awarded 50+ scholarships to students from low-income families
- Organized 10+ free medical camps for community health in underserved areas
- Trained 100+ volunteers to become educators and mentors
- Conducted 20+ community workshops on digital literacy, hygiene, and financial awareness
Why Prayagraj
Prayagraj (formerly Allahabad) is one of the most important cultural and educational cities in Uttar Pradesh, yet thousands of children in its outskirts and rural pockets remain cut off from quality education. Jana Vidya Foundation operates where the need is greatest — in villages, urban slums, and even inside a prison — because we believe the right to learn has no boundaries.
Looking Ahead
This is just the beginning. Every child deserves the chance to learn, grow, and dream. We are committed to making that happen — one classroom, one library, one community at a time. Our goal is to expand our learning centers, reach more villages across Uttar Pradesh, and build a replicable model for grassroots education in India.
